24 Quincy residents running for 2023 city election
As of June 30, 2023, the following Quincy residents have pulled nomination papers from the City Clerk’s Office to run for office.
A preliminary election will be held on Tuesday, August 29, 2023 in the event of:
3 or more candidates qualify for mayoral election
7 or more candidates qualify for school committee election
Mayor
Thomas Koch of Newbury Avenue (incumbent) (has returned the requisite 50 certified signatures)
Anne Mahoney of Ferriter Street (At-Large City Councilor since 2017)
James Maloney of East Squantum Street
Koch was first elected in 2007 and is the longest-serving chief executive in city history.
School Committee (3 members)
Seven residents have pulled papers to run for School Committee.
They include all three incumbents whose seats will be contested this year:
Paul Bregoli of Willow Avenue (Incumbent) (has returned the requisite 50 certified signatures)
Kathryn Hubley of Marion Street (Incumbent) (has returned the requisite 50 certified signatures)
Frank Santoro of Lois Terrace (Incumbent)
Kathryn Campbell of Cranch Street
Courtney Perdios of Ruggles Street (has returned the requisite 50 certified signatures)
Liberty Schaaf of Howe Street
Vincent Tran of East Elm Avenue (has returned the requisite 50 certified signatures)
Perdios had been appointed to an open seat on the committee in 2021 and finished fourth in that year’s municipal election. Schaaf also ran in 2021, finishing in fifth place.
School Committee members serve staggered four-year terms, meaning three seats are on the ballot every two years.

Current Ward 5 Councilor, Charles Phelan has announced he is not seeking re-election.
